A standard 8x6 wooden shed supplied and installed on a prepared base typically starts from around €1,500 with 10x8 and larger storage sheds ranging from €2,000 to €5,000. Insulated or bespoke sheds are priced individually. We provide free, no-obligation quotes and will always include the base and installation so there are no hidden costs.
In most cases, no. Under Irish exempt development rules, a garden shed at the rear or side of a house does not need planning permission as long as it is under 25 square metres in total (combined with any other structures built since the house), does not reduce your rear garden space below 25 square metres, and stays within the height limits (generally 3 metres for a flat roof or 4 metres for a pitched roof). Sheds in front of the house or on protected structures are different. We can advise on your specific site during the consultation.
It depends on what you plan to store. A 6x4 or 8x6 shed suits tools, a lawnmower and garden furniture cushions. An 8x6 to 10x8 is a good all-round family size for bikes, tools and outdoor gear. If you want a workshop, potting area or home office, look at 12x8 or larger. As a rule, most people wish they had gone one size bigger, so we always recommend measuring what you have to store first.
Yes. A proper base is the most important part of a long-lasting shed, and it is what we do best. We prepare concrete, paved or timber bearer bases depending on the shed size and ground conditions, and we handle any levelling and drainage needed.
For a standard wooden shed on a new base, allow 1 to 2 days for the base (concrete needs time to cure) and typically half a day to one day for assembly. Larger, insulated or bespoke sheds take longer. We will give you a clear timeline when we quote.
For most Irish gardens we recommend wood. Wooden sheds look better, are easier to repair, can be painted to match your home, and are warmer and quieter in wind and rain. Metal sheds can condense and rust, and plastic sheds are limited in size and strength. With treated timber and a dry base, a wooden shed will last for decades with minimal maintenance.
Very little is needed. Treat or paint the timber every 2 to 3 years, keep gutters and the roof clear of leaves and moss, and make sure air can circulate around the base. Because our sheds are installed on a dry, level base, the most common cause of rot is already dealt with.
